We are delighted to announce that Definition Health has achieved significant recognition with two major national awards for our pioneering work in digital health technology, driving improvements in patient outcomes within the NHS. At the HSJ Partnership Awards in London – known as the ‘Oscars of the health industry’ – we proudly received the Best Elective Care Recovery Initiative award for our collaboration with Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust. Through this partnership, we introduced the LifeBox app, enabling patients to complete their pre-assessments for surgery from the safety and comfort of their homes, reducing the need for unnecessary hospital visits and enhancing patient care.
On the same evening, we were also honoured with the Partnership with the NHS – Acute Care award at the Medilink Healthcare Business Awards in Manchester, recognising the impact of our innovative solutions in improving care delivery across the NHS.
“We are absolutely delighted for ourselves and our NHS partners to win these awards, which celebrate and recognise the hard work and commitment of everyone involved to bring about a digital change to improve patient outcomes.” said Sandeep Chauhan, orthopaedic surgeon and co-founder of Definition Health.
LifeBox, our pre-operative health assessment app, was introduced at Royal Surrey in April last year. It allows patients to complete their pre-assessment remotely, with the app generating patient-specific questions to assess individual risk levels and ensure they are ‘surgery-ready’. Two-way file sharing facilitates secure exchanges of information such as test results, fasting advice, and other important details, enabling early identification of medical concerns like high blood pressure or anaemia, which improves outcomes and reduces the risk of last-minute surgery cancellations.
Dr Harsh Saxena, consultant anaesthetist at Royal Surrey, highlighted the many benefits of using LifeBox: “It empowers patients and engages them more fully in their own care, educating them about their surgical procedure and facilitating smooth admission. It also allows us to improve the standardisation of patient care and reduce unnecessary hospital visits. Completing part of their pre-assessment away from the hospital not only lessens the stress for patients, but it also allows close family and friends to be more involved in the process and support their loved ones more effectively.”
Definition Health’s digital solutions, including LifeBox, are now being utilised by 23 hospitals across England, both private and NHS, and to date, over 130,000 patients have been pre-assessed using our digital apps.
