Definition Health is thrilled to be exhibiting at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), taking place from November 7-10, 2024, at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Our Head of US Commercial, Paul Carson, and Business Analyst, Sam Chauhan, will be on hand to provide live demonstrations and discuss how our solutions can be tailored to meet the unique challenges faced by orthopaedic teams across the US.

If you’re planning to be at the conference, come meet the Definition Health team at booth #1710 to discover how our Smart Surgery Solutions are transforming surgical care. Paul and Sam will demonstrate how our suite of tools including LifeBox, Recovery, and SURGIA can enhance surgical workflows, specifically addressing preoperative and postoperative processes for hip and knee procedures. Live demonstrations will highlight the platform's intuitive interface and its capacity to significantly reduce the administrative burden on clinical staff, allowing surgeons to focus more on patient care.

We're also excited to announce that two of our abstracts, conducted in collaboration with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, have been accepted for poster presentations at AAHKS 2024:

Implemented Digital Preoperative Pathways for Elective Surgery: Feasibility, Usability & Fiscal Impact: This study explores the implementation of LifeBox, our digital preoperative assessment (POA) tool, across all surgical specialties, with a focus on elective orthopaedic surgery. The study evaluates the feasibility, usability, and economic benefits of adopting a digital POA while considering its potential for significantly reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional preoperative processes. By minimising the need for face-to-face appointments and reducing reliance on paper-based documentation, the digital POA supports more sustainable healthcare practices, aligning with broader environmental goals within the NHS.

Cumulative Patient Risk Profiling for Lower Limb Arthroplasty: A Large Data Machine Learning Model: This pioneering research leverages the power of machine learning and predictive analytics to enhance risk stratification for patients undergoing lower limb arthroplasty. By analysing a vast dataset collected through LifeBox, this study refines the identification of risk factors that may influence post-operative outcomes. The advanced predictive models developed in this research have the potential to transform clinical decision-making, enabling more personalised and precise patient care. This approach underscores the importance of integrating cutting-edge technology into clinical workflows to improve both patient outcomes and operational efficiency in healthcare settings.

These studies were co-authored with Dr. Frank Davis, Specialised Foundation Doctor; Mr. Joideep Phadnis and Professor Benedict Rogers, Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeons, all from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, alongside Definition Health’s Dr. Sandeep Chauhan, CEO and Co-Founder; Jan Gosiewski, PhD, Head of Data Science, R&D; and James Farrant-Jayawant, Data Scientist.
