Definition Health and SWLEOC shortlisted for HSJ Partnership Awards 2025

We are proud to announce that Definition Health, in partnership with the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC), has been selected as a finalist in two categories at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2025 including Best Technology Partnership of the Year and Most Impactful Use of Technology on Clinical Practice.

The HSJ Partnership Awards honour the most effective collaborations between the NHS and its partners. Now in their eighth year, these awards are a benchmark of excellence, highlighting projects that deliver measurable benefits to patients and NHS organisations.

This recognition celebrates the collaborative efforts to transform post-operative recovery for hip and knee replacement patients. By implementing Definition Health’s virtual ward solution, Definition Recovery, patient care has been enhanced, waiting times reduced, and patients empowered to actively participate in their recovery journey.

The six-week study that formed the basis for these nominations focused on delivering a personalised recovery pathway using Definition Health’s virtual ward solution. Key achievements include:

• Reduced consultant wait times from 16 to 12 weeks.
• Enhanced clinic efficiency, saving 520 consultant clinic slots annually.
• Improved patient satisfaction, with 100% of surveyed patients feeling reassured by remote monitoring.
• Environmental benefits, including over 1,120kg reduction in carbon emissions annually due to fewer unnecessary hospital visits.

Additionally, SWLEOC celebrated a double win at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards for its us of Definition Health's virtual ward platform, reinforcing its reputation for driving transformative advancements in healthcare.
